TROUBLE-SHOOTING COMMON ISSUES

Pre-Service Check List

  • ☐ Check the appliance is plugged into a powerpoint and the switch is on.

☐ Check the cable is not damaged.

☐ Check to see if there is an isolator switch for the equipment and that it is also switched on.

☐ Try plugging the appliance into a different powerpoint to see if the appliance works.

☐ Try plugging a working appliance into the powerpoint to test if the powerpoint works correctly.

☐ If you can confirm the powerpoint is working correctly, and the equipment will not start up, raise a service call with the manufacturer.

  • VERIFY OPERATION

    Test the Burners

☐ Is the issue isolated to one or all one or all of the appliance burners? Is the oven burner working?

☐ Turn off the gas and check if there is a specific isolation valve that may be blocked or closed.

CHECK MAIN GAS SUPPLY IS ON

    Locate the Valve

The isolation valve is usually a small, silver or brass ball valve with a metal handle (often yellow). It is typically located behind a bottom storage drawer, in a nearby cabinet, or behind the oven itself.

    Check the Position

Check the Handle: Gently try to turn the handle. It should move smoothly to the open position and stop there.

    • Fully Open (On): The lever is parallel to the pipe. This allows gas to flow freely.

    • Closed (Off): The lever is perpendicular to the pipe

☐ If the gas supply is correctly turned on, check it is servicing other equipment correctly.

☐ If the problem is isolated to this piece of equipment only, raise a service call with the manufacturer.

    INSPECT FOR LEAKS

☐ If you have just manipulated the valve, it is good practice to ensure no gas is escaping. Use a soapy water solution around the joints—bubbles indicate a leak.

☐ If you smell gas, turn off the main supply, do not use electrical appliances, and call a licensed gas-fitter.

  • If the gas is flowing but not igniting:

☐ Check the appliance is plugged in and powerpoint switched on..

☐ Check if the igniter or burner is not blocked by food debris, flooding or oil build up. Clean burner caps/ports (when cold) and dry thoroughly.

☐ Test to see if the other ignitors are working.

    System Reset:

    You can try the following:

☐ Turn the appliance off, wait 30–60 seconds, then retry.

    ☐ Reset the thermostat

If you have tried these tests, and the problem is isolated to the one piece of equipment:

☐ Raise a service call with the manufacturer.

  • POWER

☐ Is the appliance still on at the wall or switch?
☐ Has a power switch or breaker been turned off?
☐ Turn the oven off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on

    DOOR

☐ Is the door fully closed?
☐ Is anything blocking the door from closing properly?

    DISPLAY/LIGHTS

    ☐ Is the screen on?
☐ Are there any flashing lights or error messages?
→ If yes, write down what you see

    HEAT/COOLING

☐ Was the appliance being used heavily before it stopped?
☐ Turn it off and let it cool for 15–20 minutes, then try again

    TIMERS

☐ Has a timer finished or auto-stop turned the oven off?
☐ Reset the program and try again

    WATER APPLIANCES ONLY

☐ Has the water turned on?
☐ Are other water use appliances working?

    FACTORY RESET

☐ Resetting or switching off for 30 seconds and restarting may resolve the iss

    STILL NOT WORKING?

Log a service call and include:

    • What happened just before it stopped

    • Any messages or lights o

  • CHECK POWER AND MACHINE STATUS

☐ Is the dishwasher powered on and not in standby mode?
☐ Has the machine been reset? (Turn off for 30 seconds, then restart.)
☐ Is the door fully closed and latched? (Most units will not fill if the door is not secure.)

    CONFIRM WATER SUPPLY IS ON

☐ Is the main water tap to the dishwasher fully turned on?
☐ If connected under a bench or behind the unit, check it hasn’t been accidentally closed
☐ If possible, confirm other equipment on the same water line is receiving water

    CHECK INLET HOSE & CONNECTIONS

☐ Ensure the water inlet hose is not kinked, twisted, or crushed
☐ Check the hose connection at both ends is secure
☐ Confirm the hose hasn’t been moved or pinched during cleaning or repositioning

    CHECK FOR BLOCKED INLET FILTER

☐ Locate the inlet filter/strainer (usually at the water connection point)
☐ Turn off water supply before checking
☐ Clean any sediment, scale, or debris
☐ Refit securely before turning water back on

(This is a very common cause of “not filling” issues.)

    CHECK WATER PRESSURE

☐ Has there been any recent plumbing work or water outages?
☐ Is water pressure lower than normal elsewhere in the premises?
☐ Low pressure can prevent the unit from filling correctly

    ERROR CODES & INDICATORS

☐ Are there any error messages, warning lights, or alarms displayed?
☐ Note the exact code or light pattern

☐ Refer to manufacturers guide error codes

    CHECK CHEMICAL AND DETERGENTS

☐ Are chemicals and rinse aids correctly connected and not empty?
☐ Some machines will not fill if chemical systems detect a fault

    8. Has anything recently changed?

☐ New staff operating the dishwasher?
☐ Cleaning or maintenance just completed?
☐ Any changes to water supply, plumbing, or chemicals?

    If the issue persists

If the dishwasher still does not fill after completing the above checks, please log a service request and include:

    • Which checks were completed

    • Any error codes displayed

    • When the issue started

This helps the manufacturer diagnose the fault faster and reduce downtime.

  • POWER AND CYCLE STATUS

☐ Has the machine been opened mid-cycle?
☐ Try turning the machine off for 30 seconds, then restarting.

If unknown re-start machine and run the shortest cycle to see if it drains once finsihed..

    FILTERS

☐ Remove and clean all internal filters and strainers
☐ Check for food scraps, labels, broken glass, or debris
☐ Refit filters correctly — the machine may not drain if filters aren’t seated proper

☐ Has the filter been changed in accordance with maintenance guide

    3. DRAINAGE AND SUMP

☐ Look inside the drain/sump for visible obstructions
☐ Remove any debris using gloves (never tools)
☐ Confirm nothing is blocking the drain opening

    DRAIN HOSE CHECK

☐ Ensure the drain hose is not kinked, crushed, or bent
☐ Check that the hose hasn’t been moved or pinched behind the machine
☐ If connected to a sink or floor waste, confirm that point is not blocked

    5. WATER LEVELS

☐ Is the dishwasher overfilled with water?
☐ If so, this may indicate a blockage or level sensor issue — note this when reporting

    ERROR CODES & WARNING LIGHTS

☐ Are there any error messages, flashing lights, or alarms?
☐ Write down the code or message exactly as shown

    HAS ANYTHING RECENTLY CHANGED?

☐ New staff using the machine?
☐ Different detergents or chemicals introduced?
☐ Heavy soil load or unusual items washed?

    STILL NOT WORKING?

If the dishwasher still isn’t draining after completing the above checks, please log a service request and include:

    • What checks were completed

    • Any error codes shown

    • When the issue first started

This helps us diagnose faster and reduce downtime.
